The Big Three

When astrologers speak of 'The Big Three', they mean the three most prominent placements in any birth chart: the Sun sign, the Moon sign, and the Rising sign (Ascendant). These three together paint a vivid picture of the whole person — identity, emotional world, and outward persona.

☀️ Your Sun Sign — Who You Are

The Sun sign is the most widely known placement — the one you read in newspaper horoscopes. It describes your core identity, the qualities you are here to embody, and your life force energy. Think of the Sun as your day-to-day self and your fundamental purpose.

To find your Sun sign: look at the date of your birth. The Sun moves through each sign for approximately 30 days.

🌙 Your Moon Sign — How You Feel

The Moon sign is your emotional DNA — how you process feelings, what makes you feel safe, and the instinctive reactions that arise before thought. Where the Sun is your conscious self, the Moon is your inner world.

To find your Moon sign: you need your birth date AND approximate birth time, as the Moon moves through signs every 2.5 days.

⬆️ Your Rising Sign — How You Appear

The Rising sign (Ascendant) is the sign that was on the eastern horizon at the exact moment you were born. It changes approximately every 2 hours — the most time-sensitive of the Big Three. The Rising sign is your outer layer: the style, energy, and first impression you project before people know you deeply.

Many people feel their Rising sign describes them better in the context of how others see them.
